It’s the People Who Make It Work at Frederick R Miller

Let’s be honest, in logistics, things don’t just happen on their own. Pallets don’t load themselves. Routes don’t plan themselves. Claims don’t process overnight. It takes people. Good people. And here at Frederick R Miller, we’ve got them.

Behind every smooth day is a team making it all work. Whether it’s in the warehouse, on the phones, out on the road, or handling the numbers, it’s teamwork and flexibility that keep the wheels turning. No drama, just people getting stuck in, sorting things out, and helping each other out.

Meet the Ops Crew

At the heart of it all is Andy Mayne, our Ops Manager. Andy’s got his eye on the big picture, making sure the whole thing stays on track. Whether it's staffing, workflow or keeping things steady during busy spells, he's the one keeping everything joined up.

Grant I’Anson handles the transport side of things; planning runs, supporting drivers, and solving the usual “where’s my pallet” puzzles. He knows the routes inside out and keeps the day moving.

Then there’s Jonny Parsons, who floats between collections and ops. He’s everywhere. If something needs doing, Jonny’s already on it.

And let’s not forget Charlotte Akenzua. She joined us from Office Angels, but slotted in so well we didn’t let her leave. Now she’s part of the ops team full-time, working closely with Grant and Jonny, and getting things done.

Holding Down the Front Line – Customer Service

Claire Cookman leads the customer service team. She’s the calm in the storm, making sure customers get answers, updates, and support when they need it. Claire brings order to chaos, keeps the pace steady, and helps the day run smoothly.

Naomi Lyons is a key part of that team too. On top of handling day-to-day customer questions, she manages insurance claims from start to finish. She investigates, follows up, and keeps them moving.

Julie Parker plays a big role here as well. She works across accounts and assists Naomi with claims, helping make sure nothing lingers. Julie is also our credit controller, and she does an excellent job keeping everything tight and organised.

Keeping the Books in Order

Amanda Miller still supports the accounts work, but she’s now in just one day a week. Julie is the main contact for invoicing and day-to-day accounts queries, keeping everything running as it should.

The Warehouse Team – The Engine Room

Then there’s the warehouse. It’s the heart of the operation, and a proper team effort.

Trevor King has taken on many of the jobs that Steve Cox used to cover. Goods in, loading checks, general warehouse flow: he’s the go-to.

Stephen Macyntyre, Isabella Booth, and Dave Dunn all joined around the same time and have become a strong day team. They crack on with what needs doing, no fuss. They’re a huge reason we hit deadlines and keep freight moving.

Planning, Routing and Keeping It All On Track

One of the most important parts of the day is planning routes. If that goes wrong, everything goes wrong. Thankfully, Jason Prothero looks after that. He’s sharp with the details, knows what will work, and gets things lined up right the first time. It saves stress for everyone later.

Teamwork Really Does Make the Difference

Everyone here does their bit. But more than that, everyone backs each other up. That’s what makes the difference. Busy day? People stay late. Problem with a delivery? Someone jumps in. Need cover? Someone always steps forward. It’s that kind of team. And it’s not just about getting the job done. It’s how we work together that matters. There’s humour, respect, and a good understanding across the board. You don’t find that everywhere.

Old Hands, New Faces

Some of the team have been here for years and know the job inside out. Others are newer and bring fresh ideas. That balance works well. Experience keeps us steady. New energy keeps us moving forward. Whether someone’s been here ten weeks or ten years, if they’ve got the right attitude, they fit in. That’s how we grow: bringing in the right people, not just the right CVs.

Looking Ahead

The logistics world doesn’t slow down. But neither do we. We’ve got a strong team, a solid setup, and a business that trusts its people to get the job done. As we grow and adapt to whatever’s next, one thing stays the same: it’s the people that make this place what it is. Not just individuals doing their jobs, but a team looking out for each other and pushing in the same direction. So if you ever wonder how it all keeps ticking, now you know. It’s down to the team. Every single one of them.
